Scor-Pal and Momenta Projects! (and last chance for giveaway)

Today I will be sharing my project that was featured on the Scor-pal blog as part of this week's Scor-Pal and Momenta blog week. Of course, if you missed this project or any of the other great projects from the Scor-pal team you'll want to hop on over there and see what's been going on this week. Be sure to leave comments on each post from this week for a chance to win some great prizes. Entry deadline in 8am Monday, July 2, so there's still time.

So without further ado here are projects made with the fabulous papers and stickers from the Brea's Room line at Momenta and my absolute work horse tool, my trusty Scor-Pal!

My first project was a simple gatefold card and belly band.

I started with a 6" by 12" piece of cardstock that I scored at 5" and 11"
I then punched the edges of the "gate edge" of the card.
The folds were burnished and then the card decorated.

The belly band was also punched with the same border punch.

The inside was decorated and a sentiment from the vellum sentiments added.

My second project was a 3D vase of flowers in a frame.

I used a 12" square frame (designed for holding scrapbook layouts) and took out the glass to give me depth for the vase part.

The flowers were made from rosettes made on the Scor-Pal from punched strips of paper 1 1/2" wide by 12" long. Throughout all my projects I used the same Daisy border punch so that everything coordinated. Once the strip was punched I used the Scor-Pal to score in between each flower scallop and in the center of the flower. Then I fan folded the strip, attached the ends together and formed the rosette. I finished each flower with a glittery flower sticker.

The vase was made from a simple scored piece of paper, the score lines made at each 1/2" made it easy to form the semi circle for the vase shape

The stems of the flowers were also made on the Scor-Pal from strips of varying lengths, all are 1" wide. They were scored lengthwise at each 1/4" (so 3 score lines) and then folded with the two ends overlapping making a long thin pyramid tube.
Then they were attached to the back patterned paper on the frame and the rosette added to the top.

My final project is a 16" by 20" canvas.

I hand cut 6 bunting pieces to go along the top of the canvas for the title. Each bunting piece was topped with a pleated piece of paper.
To form the pleats I scored along the length of the paper at 1/2" and 1/4" increments (so 1/2", 3/4", 1 1/4", 1 1/2" and so on) and then pleated the paper so the 1/4" sections were folded under the 1/2" part to form the pleat.

I made the flowers the same as the rosettes on the frame but this time used ribbon as the stems.

The flowers come out of a pocket that I scored on the front to make a checkerboard pattern.

The final scored part was a big 1/4 circle fan.
This was created from 2 strips of punched paper, each measuring 4" by 12". This time I scored only between the flowers, making taller folds.

Here is another view of the pleated bunting.

I hope you enjoyed these projects as much as I enjoyed making them.

A need a little help from my crafting friends!

My Husband’s employer is trying to win a grant from Chase. Please go to Mission Small Business log in using Facebook and search for Trainup.com and vote for them.
They need a few more votes to put them in the running.
I did it yesterday and haven't been spammed by Chase and it would really help a developing company get a big heads up!
Thanks so much, every vote counts!

Gosh this sentiment just makes me laugh, puns are my favorite form of "snickering humor" and Farmer Giles has that look on his face that you just know he'd be laughing too!
He was so nice to color and the country themed papers were just the perfect compliment to him.

Fabulous new Scor-Pal projects featuring Momenta!

Scor-Pal and their designers are excited to announce that they are teaming up with Momenta for a fun and inspiring week on both the Scor-pal blog and the Momenta blog.
The other Scor-pal designers and I have some exciting projects to share. Here's just a peek at one of the projects I have created for the event. (the whole thing will be on the Scor-pal blog tomorrow)

Be sure and check out both company blogs starting today, June 25th, and continuing throughout the week to not only find out how to make this project and many more.
Don't forget to check back each day and leave comments for a chance to win some great prizes.

Fun in Red White and Blue!

As you probably know I am English but have been living in the US for over 15 years. One of the comforting things we share as Nations is that our flags, The Union Jack and The Stars and Stripes, are both Red, White and Blue.
As it is Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee year, and London hosting the 2012 Olympic Games and as we approach The 4th of July celebrations here in the US it certainly feels the right time of year to feel Patriotic.
A lot of the card challenge blogs feel the same way and so I thought it only "right and proper" to make a card to celebrate my UK/US home :)
But I didn't do a specific event, just a general Celebratory card!

Challenges:
2 Sisters - Anything Goes
Pan Pastel UK - Anything Goes (1 entry only)
The Poodles Parlour - Red White and Blue
Saturated Canary - Red White and Blue
Sassy Cheryl's - Red White and Blue
Inky Impressions - Red White and Blue
House of Gilli - Red, White and Blue
Card Makin Mama's - Red, White and Blue
Gingerloft - Red White and Blue
Reasonable Ribbon - Red White and Blue with Ribbon
Little Claires - Jubilee/Red White and Blue
Totally Stampalicious - Red, White and another color
Stampin Sisters in Christ - Flags or Banners
Phindys Place - Gingham or Plaid
Wags N Whiskers - Use Kraft
Paper Crafting Journey - Use Kraft
Lil Red Wagon - Get Krafty
The Kraft Journal - Anything Goes with Kraft
Allsorts - Die (3 entries only)
Catch The Bug - Twine, Buttons and Sentiment
Sweet Stampin - Ribbons and Bows (2 entries only)
CMC Copic Challenge - Big Hair (3 entries only)
Papertake Weekly - Bingo! (I chose Ribbon, Die Cut and Button)
Di's Digi Designs - Spots and Dots (on the button and corners)
Delicious Doodles - 1, 2, 3 (I used 1 image, 2 corners/fabric brads and 3 flags/colors/letters/buttons)
Little Miss Muffet - Loads of Layers
Robyn's Fetish - No Flowers
Sentimental Sundays - Cute and Girly

Card Recipe:
Image - Ava Freebie from Saturated Canary (grab her while she's still there)
Medium - Copic Markers
Papers - Unknown, years old!
Die Cut Circle - Heartfelt Creations
Banner Die - My Favorite Things
Spotted Button - The Paper Studio
Mini Buttons - Dress it Up
Twine - The Twinery
Ribbon - Really Reasonable Ribbon
Corners - Colorbok
Fabric Brads - The Paper Studio
Letter Brads - Joanns

OMG did I enjoy making this card or what? The adorable image, I loved the hair, and the simplicity of a strong primary color scheme coupled with the neutrality of the Kraft cardstock made this just a dream to make.
I really hope you love her as much as I do.
Be sure to click back a little later for a post about a fabulous collaboration between Scor-Pal and Momenta that you won't want to miss!

Christmas Card Challenges #30 - Rolled Paper Flowers

It's another challenge at Christmas Card Challenges and we would like to see you use Rolled Paper Flowers somewhere on your card!
I used a die from Cheery Lynn Designs but there are lots of other ways to make this style of flower.

Remember that our challenge is optional, we really just want to help you on your quest to be ready with all your Christmas cards!

Challenges:
Paper Play - Use a Die
Holly Jolly Christmas - Punches/Dies (Must be Christmas 10 combined challenges max)
One Stop Craft - Christmas in June
Crimbo Crackers - Anything Goes Christmas
2 Sisters - Anything Goes
Crafts and Me - Anything Goes
Shelly's Thrilling Thursday - Anything Goes (5 entries only)
Auds Sentiments - Bingo! (I chose Happy, Flowers, Bling)

Card Recipe:
Image - Skating Mouse by Meljens
Medium - Copic Markers
Paper - Martha Stewart
Metalic Cardstock - American Crafts
Flower Die - Cheery Lynn Designs
Label Die - Spellbinders
Sentiment - The Paper Studio
Pearls - The Paper Studio

I think this die is designed to make a daisy style flower but in red it does a pretty good impression of a poinsettia to me :)
And this shot is the perfect reason to NOT attach your cardstock mat before coloring your image, the red showing through her dress is where the Copics "melted" the metallic top to the cardstock, oh well, lesson learned.
I hope you enjoyed this and will get into the Festive Spirit (Christmas will be here before you know it!) and come and share with us at Christmas Card Challenges
